must do the thing you think you cannot do.” -Eleanor Roosevelt
It’s almost
been a whole month since I first left the sweet state of NC for a new life in
NYC (minus Christmas time in NC).
In some ways,
it seems like I’ve been here for months upon months. Then again, I can hardly
believe how much has happened over the course of a mere few weeks. I’ve been to so many new places, met tons of
new people, endured the Metro so many (almost too many!) times, have eaten lots
of yummy foods (hello, vegetarian restaurants galore, George Town Cupcakes
& amazing Thai restaurants everywhere... oh, and a Milk Bar(?!?!)), learned
the right (and wrong) hours to go grocery shopping, have continually missed
Target, dodged a rat running down the subway stairs toward me, did laundry at a
laundromat, shivered while fighting the cold morning air on the way to work,
have seen MK Olsen & Jake Gyllenhaal, tasted some of the best (and worst)
coffee of my life … oh, & if that wasn’t enough change , I started a completely new job, packed up a 16-foot
moving truck, lived through our snowy/freezing rain drive from NC to NYC and so
much more.
All that said: I am loving it.
Sure, I’ve had those “what the heck are we doing” moments (i.e.: when a Hebrew
man screamed at me on the subway one morning at 7 AM because my bag nudged him), but
overall, I know that we are supposed to be living in NYC and because of that,
all of this change has been so good. I am also so happy that Charles is finally here with me, too, because
those weeks without him were pretty lonely. It’s ironic that I could be in such
a huge, busy, fun city and still feel “empty” without him here. We are settling into our new “home” and
really like the neighborhood we are living in.
Also? Cannot even begin to explain how grateful I am that the weekend is
finally upon me! Seriously, weekends will take on a completely new meaning here. Waking up at 5:30 every day will
probably never be something I grow to enjoy. And, being around busyness & tons of people all the time is fairly draining
for an introvert =] this weekend, we are going to be “tourists” as we explore
the city & visit museums.
happy weekend!

love that you guys are together now. But I'm sad cause I miss ya and I'm watching the bachelor and of course I'm hating on the girls but it's not as fun without watching it with you!
